Newborn faqs

When should I book my newborn session?
I recommend booking in after your 20 week scan to guarantee a space for when baby arrives.  There is a £20 deposit to secure your space and I then pencil your due date in my diary, when your little bundle of joy arrives we can then arrange a date that suits you in the 1st ten days after baby is born. I do sometimes have last minute spaces due to babies arriving early or late so just message me to see if I have space if you forgot to book before baby arrived.

When is best to have the newborn session?
Ideally when baby is under 10 days old but I have had 8 week old babies sleep for some of their photo shoot.  Babies are usually very sleepy and all curled up for the first couple of weeks and I love to capture that stage.

How much is a newborn session?
My newborn sessions are £60 with an 8" x 6" print included.
Use the contact me section to request my full price list.

Where will the session take place?
All newborn sessions take place in my home studio in Broughty Ferry.  The studio is kept nice and cosy for your baby and everything we need for the session is there for you to choose from.  You can sit back, relax and enjoy your babies first photo shoot <3

How long will the session lasts?
Usually around 2 – 3 hours, this allows time for feeds, cuddles etc.  I only do one newborn session a day so no session is ever rushed.  Baby’s make the rules at the photo shoot lol!

Can we have some photos with our baby?
Of course, I always encourage parents to get involved in the photo shoot.

Can our older children be included?
Yes, absolutely!  I recommend with younger siblings to ask a family member to bring them along nearer the end of the session to get some sibling photos and family photos.

How long will it take to get our photos?
I will have the photos ready for you to come and view within a week of your session.
Your order will be ready to pick up 3 weeks after you have placed your order.

Feet castings

What is the best age for baby castings?
Any age! I do baby castings for babies up to 12 months. The younger the baby the more wrinkles usually.

How long do the castings take? I schedule half an hour for the appointment but each casting only takes a couple of mins to set. The babies foot is placed into a warm mixture, after a couple of minutes the mixure turns hard but is still flexible and the foot easily slips out.

Is it safe?
The mixture is a natural product, made from seaweed, it is dental-grade and conforms to British Safety Standards.

Can I choose the finish? Yes absolutely, our most popular finish is antique silver but we also have antique gold.
The casting can also be painted a plain colour or left white if you wished.
There is a large choice of frames to choose from.

How long will it be until the casting is ready to collect?
You will receive your framed castings within 6 weeks of the appointment.
There is a lot of work that goes in to make the finished product perfect.
